PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Musta Laine (ranked 77 p4p, 11 weight class) and Bruno Tepes (ranked 301 p4p, 44 weight class). Laine comes to the cage accompanied by Disturbed - Sound of Silence. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Musta Laine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bruno Tepes!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laine closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Laine misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Tepes fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Laine manages to avoid it.
Tepes throws a hook but Laine blocks it.
Tepes scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Tepes throws a half hearted mid kick.
Tepes misses with an uppercut. Laine saw that one coming.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Laine, as that shot connected.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Laine.
Laine looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Tepes moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Tepes throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Tepes.
Laine moves out of range as Tepes throws a body kick.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Laine pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Laine rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Tepes counters with an inside leg kick.
Tepes stuns Laine with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Tepes shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Laine connects with a single shot there.
A slapping leg kick lands for Laine.
Laine throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Laine takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Tepes throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Laine blocks a head kick by Tepes.
Tepes throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Tepes clobbers Laine with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Tepes uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Laine.
Laine throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

and Tepes finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Tepes lands with a nice body punch.
Tepes looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Laine feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Laine shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Tepes pinned against the cage. Tepes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Tepes throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Laine on the side of the head.

Tepes on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Laine throws a lazy right hand but Tepes sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Nice uppercut lands for Tepes. That snapped Laine's head back.

Laine tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Tepes defends well and Laine ends up having to push Tepes into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Tepes doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Laine throws the left hand but Tepes avoids the punch easily.
Tepes scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
No joy there for Laine, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Tepes looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Tepes dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Laine. That did some damage!
Tepes moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Laine swings for the body but Tepes moves out of range.
Tepes swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Laine misses with a straight left.
Tepes is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Laine had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Laine swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Laine throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Tepes.
Tepes feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Laine's calf.
Tepes lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Laine fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Tepes is out of range.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Tepes enables Laine to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Tepes manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Tepes wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Laine is working Tepes over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Tepes has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Laine has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Laine has Tepes pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Tepes manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Laine has had enough of the clinch but Tepes keeps him there for the moment.

I would just about give that final round to Bruno Tepes.
