PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Doso Laciee (ranked 1897 p4p, 224 weight class) and Rocky Marciano (ranked 2040 p4p, 250 weight class). Rocky Marciano told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Doso Laciee!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rocky Marciano!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marciano takes the fight into the clinch.
Laciee fails to pull guard.
Marciano lands a right hand.
Marciano doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Laciee blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Laciee blocks an uppercut.
Marciano makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Marciano lands with a left to the head.
Laciee pulls guard effortlessly.
Laciee trying to keep a closed guard but Marciano is proving a slippery customer.
Marciano wants to stand but Laciee is controlling his posture from full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marciano trying to control but Laciee is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Marciano pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Laciee is keeping the position for now.
Marciano has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Laciee to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Marciano is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Laciee pulls down on the head and he's put Marciano to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Doso Laciee!
Doso Laciee retains his lightweight title!
Doso Laciee gave a mention to Woodshins' Ship in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
