Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Enrique Black!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gegard Mousasi!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mousasi shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mousasi showed some decent athleticism there.

Black has one foot on Mousasi's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Black really is a fat lump.

Mousasi gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Black gets to his feet - Mousasi follows without any prompting.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Black shoots in looking for a takedown but Mousasi manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Black's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Black takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like Enrique Black has been cut.
Black shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mousasi pinned against the cage. Mousasi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Mousasi thuds his shin into the meat of Black's side.

Mousasi shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mousasi showed some decent athleticism there.
Mousasi moves nicely into side control.

Mousasi is looking to take a break and control but Black is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Mousasi swings for the body but Black moves out of range.

Mousasi fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Black, pushing him back against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mousasi is trying to break the clinch but Black has him pressed against the cage.
Black just leaning against Mousasi, taking a breather.
Mousasi tries to break free but Black pushes him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Mousasi dives in and scores a takedown into Black's guard.
Mousasi trying to control the position from guard on top but Black is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Black might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Black pulls Mousasi in close to prevent any damage.
Mousasi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Black looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mousasi trying to control but Black is working from the bottom.
Mousasi is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Black is pulling down on Mousasi's head. It's preventing any offense from Mousasi, at least for the moment.

Black jumps into guard, dragging Mousasi to the mat.
Black is controlling Mousasi's posture.
Mousasi looking to sit in guard and control but Black gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Black stands up and waves to Mousasi to follow him.

Mousasi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Mousasi in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Mousasi trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mousasi accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Black is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Mousasi won't allow Black to sweep him here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Black tries for a takedown but Mousasi sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mousasi rushes Black and presses him up against the cage.
Black is trying to pull guard but Mousasi turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Black breaks from the clinch.

Mousasi gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Mousasi has Black pressed against the cage, preventing Black from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Mousasi is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Black jumps guard and drags Mousasi to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Mousasi slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

A close second round but Gegard Mousasi will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Mousasi moves into range and connects with a jab.

Mousasi has managed to clinch.
Mousasi tries to break the clinch but Black is controlling the position.

Mousasi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Mousasi closes the distance and clinches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mousasi jumps into guard, dragging Black to the mat.
Black preventing the sweep.

Mousasi working for a triangle but Black defends it easily.

Mousasi is trying to control the position but Black postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Black gets to his feet. Mousasi looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Mousasi throws a lazy body kick

and Black counters with a single leg into guard. Mousasi didn't expect that.
Mousasi controls Black momentarily but Black frees himself.
Mousasi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Mousasi is working an open guard so Black takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Black shoots in for a double leg but Mousasi sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mousasi is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Mousasi tries to bum rush Black with a series of wild strikes but Black uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Mousasi throws a sloppy head kick and Black moves out of range easily.

Mousasi decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Black kicks off Mousasi and gets to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mousasi misses with a double jab

and Black moves into the clinch.

Black drags the fight down to the ground.

Mousasi is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Black is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Black has escaped and now he's on top!

Enrique Black overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Black decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Mousasi dives in and scores a takedown into Black's guard.

Black wriggles free and stands up.

Mousasi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Black throws Mousasi to one side and escapes!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Black gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Black pulls Mousasi in close to prevent any damage.
Black has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Black keeping moving, preventing Mousasi from controlling successfully.
Enrique Black has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Gegard Mousasi is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Mousasi pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Black is keeping the position for now.

Gegard Mousasi spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
