Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Robert Bruce (ranked 23104 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Sands (ranked 2716 p4p, 0 weight class). Sands has chosen Irish Soldier Song ... Free & Green as his entrance music. Bruce has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert Bruce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby Sands!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sands lands an overhand right.
Sands lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bruce circles away quickly and effectively.
Sands will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Bruce is trying to stand back up but Sands is controlling him

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sands connects with a nice short shot to Bruce's temple.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sands seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Bruce has hold of Sands's hands but Sands slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Sands winds up and cracks Bruce with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sands lands a nice short elbow.
Sands thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Sands content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Sands takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Sands not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Bruce pushes Sands off looking to stand but Sands dives back in and keeps control.
Bruce is breathing heavily.

Sands working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Bruce pushes Sands off looking to stand but Sands dives back in and keeps control.
Sands is looking to take a break and control but Bruce is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Sands wants to free his trapped foot but Bruce is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Sands is looking for a kimura but Bruce is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sands to get the leverage.

Sands is working for a submission of some sort.
Bruce on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sands is taking a breather. Bruce says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Bruce wants to get back to his feet.
Sands slows the pace down in half guard.

Bruce knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sands on the ground.

Bruce is rocked!

Sands is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Bruce has managed to free his arm - good work.

Oh Bruce is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Sands winds up and cracks Bruce with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Sands lands a big elbow - Bruce is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Sands!

An out of breath Bobby Sands thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
