Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sergio Garcia (ranked 625 p4p, 85 weight class) and Drei Silker (ranked 560 p4p, 77 weight class). Garcia's entrance music is Ludacris - Beast Mode. A fine choice. Drei Silker has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sergio Garcia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Drei Silker!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Sano and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silker moves out of range as Garcia throws a body kick.
And Silker tries to counter it with a takedown but Garcia pushes his down on his head and steps out.

and Garcia counters with a shoot takedown. Silker fights it but they end up in guard.
Silker not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Silker is trying to control Garcia's posture but Garcia avoids it.
Garcia is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Silker's shoulder. That is not cool.
Silker is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Garcia off and has taken his back!
I've been told that Silker has been drilling his wrestling of late, which has already helped him take this fight to the mat. Let's see how much of an impact it has on the outcome of the ground game.

Silker can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Garcia is looking to escape.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Silker shoots for a double leg takedown but Garcia sprawls well. He's pushed Silker's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Garcia looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.

and Silker counters by clinching up.

Silker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Silker throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Garcia escapes and throws Silker's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Garcia remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Garcia is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Silker can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Silker wants to land a leg kick but Garcia is out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Silker looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Garcia counters with a good low kick that Silker was not able to check.
Garcia defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Silker.

Drei Silker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Garcia pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Garcia avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Garcia crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Silker - the referee stops the clock and Garcia gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Silker. Garcia manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Silker fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Garcia avoids it really well and circles away.

Silker looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Garcia fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Garcia throws a shot from downtown. Silker moves away and avoids it.
Silker is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Silker takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Silker shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Sergio Garcia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Drei Silker.

Silker's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Silker takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Garcia throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Garcia bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Silker's head.

Garcia shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Garcia was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Garcia swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Silker is now in Garcia's guard. A big mistake from Garcia there, giving up the dominant position!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
