PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Abdul Nabi (ranked 4739 p4p, 218 weight class) and Yasir Yannayakoch (ranked 6080 p4p, 242 weight class). Nabi comes to the cage accompanied by Here Comes The Hotstepper. Yannayakoch has chosen The sound of animals fighting - Uzbekistan as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yasir Yannayakoch!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Chris Edwards and James Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nabi throws a hook but Yannayakoch avoids it easily.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Yannayakoch has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Nabi looks to land a combination but Yannayakoch avoids it well.
Yannayakoch connects with a looping right hand.

Yannayakoch closes the distance looking to clinch

and Nabi counters with a single leg into guard. Yannayakoch didn't expect that.
Nabi makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Nabi not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Nabi thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Nabi connects with a couple of short punches.

Nabi is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Yannayakoch is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Yannayakoch has escaped and now he's on top!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nabi has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Yannayakoch should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Nabi has tightened it up now! Yannayakoch should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

After the fight, Abdul Nabi was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
In defeat, Yasir Yannayakoch stepped up to the mic, saying 'I don't want to talk.'.
