Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Scot Hines (ranked 24492 p4p, 0 weight class) and Owen Roddy (ranked 5488 p4p, 0 weight class). Owen Roddy has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 1, fighting out of London, Scot Hines!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Owen Roddy!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hines fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Roddy checks it well.
Roddy is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Hines closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Roddy is looking to regain half guard here but Hines keeps moving and retains side control.
Roddy struggling a bit here.
Roddy is holding Hines down, trying to stall.

Hines decides to stand up, so the ref orders Roddy to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Roddy moves out of range of the leg kick from Hines.
Roddy is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Hines moves into the clinch.

A body shot lands from Roddy.
Hines gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Roddy.
Hines is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Roddy is defending well for now.
Hines has a couple of punches blocked by Roddy.

Roddy jumps guard but Hines turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Roddy is trying to pull guard but Hines turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Scot Hines has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Owen Roddy.
Hines is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Roddy to keep the fight standing.
Hines is struggling to control the position.
Roddy tries to pull guard but Hines holds him up against the cage and eventually Roddy drops back down to his feet.

Roddy blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Roddy tries a knee to the head but Hines blocks it.
Roddy tries to pull guard but Hines won't allow it.

Hines breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hines tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Roddy manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Roddy looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hines is fending him off so far but Roddy persists. Nope, Hines circles away and we're back to standing.
Hines tries to close the distance and clinch up but Roddy swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Roddy goes for a double leg but Hines avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hines continues to drive forward.
Hines appears to be looking for a big counter.
Roddy tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Roddy throws out a powerful jab.

Hines tries to keep at a distance but Roddy has taken the fight into the clinch.

Hines pulls guard effortlessly.
Hines really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hines will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Roddy being controlled here momentarily.
Roddy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Roddy trying to control the position from guard on top but Hines is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's time! Hines's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


A head kick misses from Hines.
Hines misses with a leg kick.
Scot Hines is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hines keeps the fight on the outside.
Hines throws a leg kick which misses Roddy's front leg but catches the back leg as Roddy tries to avoid it.
Hines displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Roddy.

Roddy shoots in for a takedown but Hines shows good takedown defense.
Roddy tries to close the distance and clinch but Hines swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hines throws a big counter combination but Roddy scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Roddy shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hines pinned against the cage. Hines gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Scot Hines has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Owen Roddy.
Hines throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Roddy's waist but Roddy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hines off to one side.

Roddy fails with a takedown attempt.

Roddy clinches.
Roddy tries to pull guard but Hines won't allow it.
Hines keeps control of Roddy as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Roddy tries to pull guard but Hines holds him up against the cage and eventually Roddy drops back down to his feet.
Hines throws a punch but it's blocked by Roddy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Knees to the body from Hines.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Roddy tries to pull guard but Hines forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Hines's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Hines pulls guard effortlessly.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Roddy has gone for a leg lock! Hines slips out almost immediately though and dives into Roddy's guard.

Hines postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hines postures up and lands a big shot to Roddy's brow.
Hines won't allow Roddy to get back to his feet.
Hines content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Hines wants to stand and escape but instead Roddy has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Hines is trying to keep Roddy in close.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Roddy looking to sit in guard and control but Hines gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hines with a nice head shot there.
Hines with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Roddy avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Hines keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Roddy's head.
Hines trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scot Hines dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Roddy throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Hines lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Hines misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hines shoots for a double leg takedown but Roddy sprawls well. He's pushed Hines's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Roddy wants to clinch.
Roddy slaps away a takedown attempt from Hines, before circling back to the center of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hines is rocked!


It looks like Scot Hines has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Roddy has cracked Hines with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Roddy lands another huge swinging hook and Hines tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Hines, before Roddy can land any more shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Owen Roddy!
