PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jerimiah Jose (ranked 5243 p4p, 0 weight class) and Test Four (ranked 6864 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jerimiah Jose !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Test Four!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Igor Prikhodko and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jose tries to close the distance and clinch but Four swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Four misses with a leg kick.
Jose misses with a wild combination.
Four throws a leg kick
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Jose leaves Four with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jose blocks a leg kick.
Four tries to land a leg kick but Jose saw it coming and moves away.
Four tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Jose is able to avoid easily.

and Jose counters with a lovely shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Jose finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Test Four seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Jose counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jose sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Four is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Four can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jose is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Jose landing some decent shots from guard.
Jose slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jose seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Four for as long as he can get away with.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

and Four takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Jose counters with a single leg into guard. Four didn't expect that.
Four looks winded!
Four looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jose is one step ahead there.
Jose working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Four's head.
Jose content to stall in guard here.
Jose stands up over Four, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Jose controls from within his opponent's guard.
Four really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jose . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Four has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Iron Jacks. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Jose passes Four's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Four moves into range and clinches up with Jose .
Four with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Four goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Jose drops down looking for an ankle pick but Four pulls his leg out and moves away.
Jose chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Four can pounce on him.

Four has managed to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jose wants a takedown but no success here.
Jose is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Four can do to turn this around?

Jose goes for a takedown in the clinch but Four prevents it.

Four is trying to break the clinch but Jose is controlling him.

Jose has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Four avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Jose throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Jose misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Four.
Four pushes Jose back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Jose scores with a nice body kick.
A low kick from Four misses
and Jose counters with a thumping low kick.
A clash of legs there as Jose blocks the low kick.
Jose checks a leg kick.
Four throws a leg kick but Jose sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Jose half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Four is breathing heavily.
Jose checks a low kick from Four.

Four closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Jose 's guard.
Four must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Jose looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Four is defending well. Jose quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Four has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Jose celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jerimiah Jose !
