Hibernaugh comes to the cage accompanied by Hyper, Hyper. Rei Reizawa has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Steve Hibernaugh's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rei Reizawa!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hibernaugh stuffs the takedown attempt from Reizawa. Reizawa gets slowly back to his feet.

Reizawa throwing shots but Hibernaugh is blocking nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reizawa wants to work for an arm triangle but Hibernaugh is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Reizawa is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hibernaugh defends it well.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Reizawa closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hibernaugh to the mat! Hibernaugh manages to get full guard.

Reizawa postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Reizawa won't allow Hibernaugh to get back to his feet.
Reizawa stands up over Hibernaugh, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Reizawa pushes down on Hibernaugh's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Hibernaugh knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Reizawa on the ground.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

It looks like Rei Reizawa has been cut.
Hibernaugh lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Reizawa can't get the takedown.
Steve Hibernaugh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rei Reizawa.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Reizawa's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Hibernaugh works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Rei Reizawa will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


A looping hook to the body misses from Hibernaugh. Reizawa does a little dance to reset his feet.

Hibernaugh moves into range and clinches up with Reizawa.

Reizawa wants to take the fight to the mat but Hibernaugh manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Reizawa should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Reizawa goes for a takedown attempt but Hibernaugh pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Hibernaugh lands an elbow that stopped Reizawa in his tracks for a moment.


That has opened up Rei Reizawa's cut even more.
Reizawa is breathing heavily.
Hibernaugh lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hibernaugh lands a big right hand that drops Reizawa! The killer instinct kicks in and Hibernaugh finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Hibernaugh!
