PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Takumi Sagaki (ranked 1109 p4p, 54 weight class) and Santana Blaze (ranked 2219 p4p, 106 weight class). Sagaki comes to the cage accompanied by Crazy Nights - Loudness. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Santana Blaze was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Takumi Sagaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Santana Blaze!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Franklyn Lucas and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sagaki throws a lazy right hand but Blaze sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Sagaki pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Blaze misses with a double jab.
Sagaki throws a sloppy body shot
and Blaze counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Sagaki fails with the takedown
and Blaze counters with a stiff right hand.
Takumi Sagaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sagaki looks to throw the jab but Blaze is out of range.
Sagaki keeps Blaze at a distance using the push kick.
Blaze feints a jab promting Sagaki to slip. Blaze then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Sagaki slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Blaze blocks a head kick by Sagaki.
A head kick misses from Sagaki.
Sagaki uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Blaze.
Blaze tries to bum rush Sagaki with a series of wild strikes but Sagaki uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A combination from Blaze does no damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sagaki is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Blaze clobbers Sagaki with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

and Blaze counters with a stiff right hand.

Blaze misses with a straight left.

Sagaki gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Sagaki is trying to trip Blaze. He has hold of a leg but Blaze is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Sagaki persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Blaze wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Sagaki manages to pass to side control.
Blaze really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sagaki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sagaki looks to score with a jab to the body but Blaze is just out of range.

Blaze gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sagaki to score an easy takedown into full guard.

and Blaze counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Blaze throws a shot from downtown. Sagaki moves away and avoids it.
Nice takedown defense from Blaze. No joy for Sagaki on that attempt.

Blaze throws a right hand that Sagaki ducks under and follows up with a left that Sagaki also avoids with ease.

Santana Blaze is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Sagaki dives in and grabs Blaze's left leg, looking for a takedown. Blaze pushes down on Sagaki's head and hops out.
Blaze is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Sagaki tries for a takedown but Blaze sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Sagaki throws a hook but Blaze avoids it easily.
Sagaki tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Blaze jabs Sagaki right on the nose. Sagaki blinks but takes it well.

Sagaki is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Blaze's half guard.

Blaze makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Blaze.

Blaze has his feet on Sagaki's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Blaze lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Sagaki shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Blaze counters with a straight right hand.
Good leg kick by Blaze there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Blaze keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Blaze enables Sagaki to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Blaze manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Blaze wants to get back to striking at distance but Sagaki won't allow it.
Sagaki is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Blaze is defending well for now.

Sagaki postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Blaze covers up, he's hurt! Sagaki keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Sagaki and the ref steps in to end the fight! Sagaki can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Takumi Sagaki!
Takumi Sagaki seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
