Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Roy Benavidez (ranked 1098 p4p, 153 weight class) and Thor Hammer (ranked 1075 p4p, 152 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roy Benavidez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thor Hammer!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammer misses with a body shot.
Benavidez feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Hammers jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Hammer gets caught napping as Benavidez dives in and scores a takedown. Hammer manages to retain guard.

Hammer wriggles free and stands up.
Hammer throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Benavidez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hammer moves away.
Hammer throws a jab but it's blocked by Benavidez.
Benavidez loads up on a big right hand but Hammer slips the punch.
Hammer swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Nice defenses there by Hammer.

Hammer lands with a thumping leg kick.
Benavidez misses with a hook. Hammer ducked under it nicely.
Benavidez throws a body punch but Hammer moves out of range.
Benavidez swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Benavidez stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Hammer slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Thor Hammer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Hammer uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Benavidez.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Benavidez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hammer manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Benavidez has Hammer in his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close round but I would say that Roy Benavidez will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Roy Benavidez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fighters circle momentarily. Benavidez darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Hammer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hammer wants it to stay on the feet.
Hammer throws a solid leg kick but Benavidez takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Hammer.
Benavidez throws a body punch but Hammer moves out of range.

Benavidez cracks Hammer with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Hammer throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Benavidez attempts a counter takedown but Hammer avoids it well and moves away.
Benavidez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hammer tries to avoid it but Benavidez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hammer to the ground. Hammer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Hammer takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Hammer lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Benavidez has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Benavidez and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Benavidez.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roy Benavidez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close second round but I would say that Roy Benavidez will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Benavidez looks to land a left hand but Hammer moved out of range nicely.
Hammer throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hammer thows a left - swing and a miss!
Benavidez tries to counter with a takedown but Hammer is quick to defend against it.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hammer leaves Benavidez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Thor Hammer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Benavidez has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
