Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yamato Take (ranked 454 p4p, 66 weight class) and Russell Northrop (ranked 419 p4p, 61 weight class). Northrop has chosen Alive And Kicking as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Take looks to score with a jab to the body but Northrop is just out of range.
Take throws a quick inside leg kick.
Northrop cracks Take with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Take with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Nice sprawl there from Take as Northrop shoots in.
Take lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Take thuds a left hand into Northrop's body.

Take swats away the attempt to clinch by Northrop.
Northrop throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Take throws a shot from downtown. Northrop moves away and avoids it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Take motions for Northrop to come forward. Take throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Take moves out of range of the body kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Northrop looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Northrop throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Take.
Take ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Northrop moves away.

Take throws a low kick, looking for Northrop's leg but Northrop calmly moves out of range.
A little jabbing left from Northrop on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Northrop misses the shot to the body.
Take throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Northrop on the side of the head.
Yamato Take is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Northrop throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Take fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Northrop has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Take fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Northrop manages to avoid it.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Take.

Northrop tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
I was talking to Take's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Northrop prevents a body shot from Take.
Take throws a punch but it's blocked by Northrop.
The referee is keeping an eye on Northrop - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Northrop jumps guard but Take stands there with Northrop around his waist. Northrop gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Northrop on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Take tries to throw a body punch but Northrop avoids it by throwing Take back against the cage.
Take swings wildly with an uppercut but Northrop uses good head movement to avoid it.
Northrop's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Northrop goes for a takedown attempt but Take pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Yamato Take has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Russell Northrop.
Take clobbers Northrop with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Northrop throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nice straight punches there by Take. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Take.
Take misses with a few strikes there.
Northrop misses with a series of wild punches.
Take tries to clinch up.
Take throws a body shot but no joy.
Take thuds his shin into the meat of Northrop's side.
Northrop tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Take defends well and Northrop ends up having to push Take into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Northrop looking to hit a scissor sweep but Take is one step ahead there.

Northrop has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Take doesn't defend quickly enough and Northrop has managed to lock this one up! Can Take escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Northrop on a fantastic submission victory.

Russell Northrop really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that RAGS of a RONIN logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
Yamato Take was interviewed post fight and said 'Good fight buddy.'.
