Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are James Glass, Steven Brown and Donald Grub.



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karelin lunges at Chaelsson with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Chaelsson's hand.

Karelin gets caught napping as Chaelsson dives in and scores a takedown. Karelin manages to retain guard.
Karelin wants to sweep here but Chaelsson controlling him for the moment.
Karelin is trying to control the position but Chaelsson postures up.
Karelin tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Chaelsson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Karelin is on top in guard.

Chaelsson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Karelin manages to get himself to full guard.

Karelin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chaelsson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Karelin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Chaelsson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Chaelsson throws a big right hand that misses.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Chaelsson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Patrick Chaelsson will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Karelin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Chaelsson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Chaelsson wants it to stay on the feet.
Chaelsson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Horrible takedown attempt by Chaelsson or perhaps it was just good defense by Karelin, which made it look bad.
Karelin throws a one two combo.
Chaelsson keeps the fight on the outside.

Karelin moves into range and clinches up with Chaelsson.
Karelin is pressed up against the cage. Chaelsson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Karelin down to the mat. Karelin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Aleksandr Karelin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Chaelsson.

Chaelsson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Chaelsson winds up and cracks Karelin with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Karelin is controlling Chaelsson's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Karelin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Karelin is working hard here to advance position.

Chaelsson slips a nice elbow through Karelin's hands, connecting with Karelin's forehead.
Karelin wants to get back to full guard.
Chaelsson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Chaelsson thows a huge punch but Karelin dodges it nicely.
Chaelsson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Karelin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Karelin regains full guard. Nicely done.
Chaelsson postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Karelin covers up, he's hurt! Chaelsson keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Chaelsson and the ref steps in to end the fight! Chaelsson can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Patrick Chaelsson!
In his post fight interview, Patrick Chaelsson started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
