The crowd seem to be enjoying Garbutt's choice of entrance music: The Best Possible Entrance Song. John Garbutt has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Mark Hill's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Hill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Garbutt!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Phil Schofield and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hill fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Garbutt throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Hill on the side of the head.


It looks like Mark Hill has been cut.
Hill blocks a jab.
Hill walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Hill shoots and misses
and Garbutt counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hill has been working on his balance at Lucky Liam's MMA Academy, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Garbutt.
Garbutt throws out a powerful jab.


Hill is rocked!
Hill ducks right into an uppercut from Garbutt.
Oh Hill is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mark Hill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hill scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hill seems to have got his legs back now.
Garbutt blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hill.
Hill is nestled in close to Garbutt, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Garbutt is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hill scores with a couple of nice shots.
Hill thows a huge punch but Garbutt dodges it nicely.
Garbutt is looking to improve his position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Garbutt can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hill is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Hill winds up and cracks Garbutt with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Garbutt is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Garbutt is trying to maintain the position but Hill is very close to passing his half guard.
Hill is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Hill seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Garbutt does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Hill lands with a punch from half guard.
Hill looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Garbutt with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Hill working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.


It looks like John Garbutt has been cut.

Hill is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Garbutt has managed to free his arm - good work.
Garbutt taking some punishment here, with Hill in his half guard.
Garbutt has hold of Hill's hands but Hill slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Hill scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Hill lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

That has opened up John Garbutt's cut even more.
Hill scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Garbutt is still in real trouble! Can Hill finish him?
Hill lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Garbutt quite badly. Garbutt pulls Hill in close trying to recover. Hill postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Garbutt on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Garbutt doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Hill!
