Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Marcos Santana (ranked 2059 p4p, 108 weight class) and Paulie Greene (ranked 2247 p4p, 117 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcos Santana!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paulie Greene!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Francis DeMontford and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santana shoots in but no luck this time.
Santana moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Santana on the wrong end of a nice hook.


Santana is rocked!

Santana shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Oh Santana is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Santana trying to control but Greene is working from the bottom.
Santana pushes down on Greene's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Santana tries to pass the half guard into mount. Greene knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Santana frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Santana is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Greene can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Santana breaks from Greene's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Santana lands a couple of good shots and Greene has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Greene covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Santana cracks Greene with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Greene from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Santana looking to break Greene's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Greene remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Santana will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Greene counters with a thumping low kick.
Santana shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Greene but Greene pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Greene cracks Santana with a good jab.
A slapping body kick lands there for Greene.
Santana fails with an attempt to clinch.

and Greene counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Greene.
Greene is looking to slow Santana down with leg kicks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santana darts in trying to clinch
and Greene counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

and Greene counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Santana closes the distance and clinches up with Greene, looking for a takedown. Santana pushes Greene against the cage but Greene circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Santana shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Greene pinned against the cage. Greene gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Greene lands with a shot to the body.
Greene bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Greene feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Santana's calf.
Santana tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Greene swivels and escapes.
Greene fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Santana.
Greene circles away from the clinch attempt.
Santana doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Santana with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Greene to score with a decent uppercut.
Greene lands a nice looking kick to the body. Santana takes a step back to recover.
Greene throws a nice inside leg kick.
Paulie Greene seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Greene connects with a right hand. Santana shakes it off.

A decent looking body kick lands there for Greene.
Santana shoots in looking for a takedown but Greene manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Santana's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Santana walks into a stiff left hand from Greene.
Greene fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Santana.
Greene closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Santana! Greene dives in looking to finish! Santana is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
