The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Toine tries to clinch up but Onodera circles away and keeps his distance.
An attempted straight right counter from Onodera misses the target.

Onodera scores with a takedown into Toine's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Onodera postures up in Toine's guard and throws a big left but Toine blocks it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Toine is on top in guard.

Onodera could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Onodera wants to sweep but no luck.
Onodera wants to improve his position but instead Toine has moved into half guard.
Toine is figuring out what he wants to do next.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Toine working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Onodera looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Toine! Submission of the night perhaps?

Ze Toine decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
