PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bob Weave (ranked 5789 p4p, 510 weight class) and Augustine Tupper (ranked 3085 p4p, 167 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Weave might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Wheeler Walker Jr - Sit On My Face. Bob Weave has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bob Weave!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Augustine Tupper!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tupper throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Tupper swings for the body but Weave moves out of range.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Tupper - that will leave a mark!
Weave works the jab nicely.
Tupper shoots in and drives through. Weave sprawls well.
Weave misses the shot to the body.
Tupper has a takedown stuffed.
A nice inside leg kick there by Tupper. That's going to slow Weave down.
Weave throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Tupper counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tupper scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Weave keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Tupper not doing much here.
Tupper misses with a head shot. Weave uses the momentum to regain guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tupper keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Weave's head.
Tupper throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Weave works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Tupper working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Weave is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Dauntless Academy that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Tupper tries to free his leg and advance position but Weave is retaining full guard.
Weave keeping moving, preventing Tupper from controlling successfully.
Tupper with a flurry of punches that miss.
Tupper wants to pass the guard but Weave is keeping the position.
Weave striking off his back but it's not causing Tupper any problems.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Tupper postures up in Weave's guard and throws a big left but Weave blocks it.
Tupper pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Weave is keeping the position for now.
Tupper in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tupper throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tupper is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Tupper scores with a shot to the body.
Weave fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
And Tupper tries to counter it with a takedown but Weave pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Tupper keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Tupper was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Tupper throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Weave.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tupper closes this distance looking for a takedown but Weave circles away.
Bob Weave has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Augustine Tupper.
Tupper throws a low kick but Weave avoids it.
Tupper misses with a low kick as Weave jumps back.
Weave scores with a nice strike.
Weave misses with a jab, cross combination.
Weave shoots for a double leg takedown but Tupper sprawls well. He's pushed Weave's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Tupper shoots in but no luck this time.
Weave swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Weave darts in looking for a takedown but Tupper gets double underhooks and turns Weave into the cage.
Tupper tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
An inside leg kick lands from Tupper.
A nice inside leg kick there by Tupper. That's going to slow Weave down.
Tupper fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Weave avoids it really well and circles away.
Weave half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
A punch lands to the side of Tupper 's head but he takes it in his stride.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Weave is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Tupper like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Tupper from another fist facial!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bob Weave!
Bob Weave decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
The defeated Augustine Tupper had this to say: 'No worries! Everyone knows that my opponent here has a bad habit of testing positive for PEDs and illegal recreational drugs, so I'm confident this fight will soon be ruled a "No Contest."
