The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Filinov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Filinov uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Honey.
Filinov seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Honey keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Honey tries to bum rush Filinov with a series of wild strikes but Filinov uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

As Honey looks to move away, Filinov throws a big counter combo but Honey just gets out of the way.

As Honey tries to get set, Filinov tries to push him back and clinch up but Honey manages to avoid the attempt.

Honey had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Filinov defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Honey content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Filinov has locked up a guillotine! Filinov's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Honey is holding on here and Filinov must be using up a lot of energy. Honey has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Filinov gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

After the fight, Najdet Filinov was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
