PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marat Magomedov (ranked 476 p4p, 62 weight class) and Jallu Pesonen (ranked 721 p4p, 88 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Magomedov might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Persecution of the Masses. Pesonen has chosen DJ Orkidea - Joutsenlaulu as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pesonen throws a leg kick but Magomedov moved away.
Pesonen throws a hook but Magomedov avoids it easily.
Pesonen fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Magomedov.
Magomedov uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Pesonen.
Pesonen missing with a left hand there. Magomedov was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

and Magomedov cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Pesonen has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Pesonen.

Magomedov shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Pesonen is trying to defend but Magomedov finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Magomedov will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Pesonen manages to get to full guard.

Pesonen is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Magomedov defends well.
