Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Wagner Resende (ranked 1448 p4p, 198 weight class) and Mickey Flannerry (ranked 889 p4p, 129 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flannerry slaps away a takedown attempt from Resende, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Resende tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Flannerry manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Flannerry keeps the fight on the outside.
We've been hearing reports that Resende has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Resende fails with the takedown
and Flannerry counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Resende misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Horrible takedown attempt by Resende or perhaps it was just good defense by Flannerry, which made it look bad.
Flannerry tries to bum rush Resende with a series of wild strikes but Resende uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Resende feints and as Flannerry raises his hands in defense, Resende changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Resende stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Flannerry swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Resende seems to have got his legs back now.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Flannerry holds on and takes a little breather.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Resende is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Flannerry to keep the fight standing.

Flannerry's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Resende closes this distance looking for a takedown but Flannerry circles away.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Resende dives in for a single leg takedown but Flannerry sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

and Flannerry counters with a nice right hand that sends Resende toppling to the canvas! Resende scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Flannerry finish him?!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Flannerry is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Resende flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Resende is out cold! Flannerry holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
