Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shovel Knight (ranked 3972 p4p, 187 weight class) and Paul Hewitt (ranked 2428 p4p, 0 weight class). Knight comes into the arena with X Gon' Give It To Ya blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knight cracks a nice hook into Hewitt's ribs.
Knight fails with the takedown
and Hewitt counters with a nice body shot.
Hewitt ducks right into an uppercut from Knight.
Knight lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
It looks like Paul Hewitt has been cut.
Shovel Knight seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Knight throws a left and a right that both miss
and Hewitt connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Knight misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hewitt has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Knight.
Hewitt takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Knight moves into the clinch.
Hewitt lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Knight misses with a hook from the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Hewitt fails to land.
Knight jumps guard.
Knight keeping moving, preventing Hewitt from controlling successfully.
Hewitt trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Hewitt got a little sloppy there for a moment and Knight has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hewitt has managed to get both his arms back between Knight's legs - danger averted.

Hewitt is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Hewitt trying to control but Knight is working from the bottom.
Knight lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Hewitt is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Knight prevents Hewitt from getting back to his feet.
Hewitt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Knight. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Knight's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Hewitt is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Hewitt is looking to stand up but Knight isn't so interested in that idea.
Knight content to stall in guard here.
Knight wants to control from the top but Hewitt keeps moving.
Knight slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Knight tests Hewitt's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Knight gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Knight is trying to pull guard but Hewitt has him pressed against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shovel Knight. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hewitt scores with a nice hook to the head.
It looks like Shovel Knight has been cut.

Knight fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Hewitt misses with some punches.
Knight tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hewitt just stands there and leans against the cage.
Knight tries to pull guard but Hewitt won't allow it.
Hewitt misses with the head strike.
Knight misses with an elbow over the top.
Hewitt misses with a punch to the body.
Knight tries to pull guard but Hewitt forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Knight escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Knight changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hewitt tries to avoid it but Knight manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hewitt to the ground. Hewitt escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hewitt connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Knight ducks under a wild hook from Hewitt.
Knight shoots in for a takedown but Hewitt shows good takedown defense.
Knight cracks Hewitt with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A big left from Hewitt misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shovel Knight dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Hewitt lands with a massive overhand right! Stick a fork in Knight - he's out cold! Ermm... I think I just mixed my metaphors but yeah... That was a nice KO! Big win for Hewitt!
