PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Harold Shipman (ranked 1577 p4p, 185 weight class) and Vasili Komaroff (ranked 1373 p4p, 161 weight class). Shipman comes to the cage accompanied by I'll beat yo ass.. Komaroff has chosen Kaleida - Think as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, Harold Shipman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vasili Komaroff!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shipman slips under a jab.
Komaroff lands a really nice looking cross but Shipman seems unphased.
Shipman's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Komaroff connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Shipman scrambles back to his feet.

Shipman is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Komaroff's half guard.
Shipman definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Komaroff is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Komaroff makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Komaroff.
Komaroff wants to control but Shipman passes easily into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Komaroff looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Shipman puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Komaroff has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Shipman is working away from the top position though.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Shipman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Komaroff tries to avoid it but Shipman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Komaroff to the ground. Komaroff escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Komaroff circles away from the clinch attempt.

Komaroff closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Shipman quickly recovers to half guard.
Shipman is not content to let Komaroff control the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

That was a close second round but I would say that Harold Shipman will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Komaroff throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shipman's waist but Shipman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Komaroff off to one side.

Shipman has hold of one of Komaroff's legs. Komaroff is fighting the takedown attempt but Shipman gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Komaroff has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Komaroff is still trying to improve position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Shipman slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Thud! ouch! good body kick from Komaroff - that will leave a mark!

Komaroff is looking to work some ground and pound but Shipman has wrist control.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Harold Shipman.
I think Shipman has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In his post fight interview, Harold Shipman started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
Vasili Komaroff spoke after the fight, saying 'In the eyes of myself, I won this fight. In the eyes of God, I won this fight.'.
