Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mathis Malen (ranked 3216 p4p, 342 weight class) and Borys Hund (ranked 3906 p4p, 405 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mathis Malen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Borys Hund!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hund has a takedown stuffed.
A little feinted left hand from Malen on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Hund fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Malen is looking to counter with head kicks.
Malen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Malen wants it to stay on the feet.
Mathis Malen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Borys Hund.
Hund misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Malen throws a body shot but no joy.
Hund is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Malen shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hund but Hund pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hund shoots for a double leg takedown but Malen sprawls well. He's pushed Hund's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Malen enables Hund to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Malen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hund slips nicely into half guard.
Malen is looking to control Hund's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Malen avoid being mounted?

Hund is working for a kimura but Malen is defending it quite comfortably.

Malen makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Hund closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Malen's guard.
Malen keeping moving, preventing Hund from controlling successfully.
Hund prevents Malen from getting back to his feet.
Malen has Hund pulled in close to control his posture.
Hund trying to control the position from guard on top but Malen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hund might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Malen haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Hund pushes down on Malen's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Hund lands strikes from half guard.

Malen kicks Hund off and gets back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hund closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hund lands in his opponent's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Malen looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Malen is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hund is aware though and is defending well.
Malen is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hund trying to control but Malen is working from the bottom.
Hund stands and throws Malen's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Malen is trying to get back to his feet.

Hund is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Malen has escaped the position, nice work there.

Hund is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Malen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Hund is trying to get an arm triangle but Malen is defending well.

Malen tries to buck Hund off but Hund is having none of it.
A control attempt from Malen but he's now mounted!
Hund lands a nice shot to the head.


Malen is rocked!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hund takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Malen tries to hold on but Hund pushes him away.
Hund postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Malen badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Hund around the waist but Hund pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Hund is the winner by TKO! Hund jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Borys Hund!
