And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andrew Martinez!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Martinez instigates a clinch.
Ambrose drops down looking for an ankle pick but Martinez pulls his leg out and moves away.
Martinez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ambrose sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Martinez somewhat.

Martinez scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Ambrose sneaks back into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ambrose flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Ambrose bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Martinez's guard.

Martinez wants to get back to his feet but Ambrose passes into half guard.

Ambrose throwing shots but Martinez is blocking nicely.
Ambrose is taking a breather. Martinez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Ambrose is trying to control. Martinez wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Ambrose is working for a kimura but Martinez is defending it quite comfortably.

Martinez manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Ambrose keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Martinez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ambrose's waist but Ambrose gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Martinez off to one side.

Martinez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ambrose's guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mike Ambrose will probably get the nod.

Ambrose is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Martinez can do to turn this around?

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Martinez has Ambrose pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Martinez pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ambrose tumbling to the mat - Martinez dives into Ambrose's guard.

Ambrose is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Martinez presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Martinez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Martinez misses with some punches.
Ambrose takes an elbow to the forehead.
Ambrose wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Martinez has him pressed against the cage.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Martinez prevents a takedown attempt there.

Ambrose breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

And that's the end of the fight!
