Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ground Day (ranked 2441 p4p, 261 weight class) and Bob Bobs (ranked 24570 p4p, 580 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ground Day!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Bob Bobs!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Tarja Halkonen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bobs slips a jab and a cross from Day.
And Bobs tries to counter it with a takedown but Day pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Bobs scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Day misses with a wild body shot.
Bobs is looking for the big counter here.

Day gets a double leg takedown into Bobs's guard.
Day pushes down on Bobs's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Day tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bobs knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Bobs blocking the ground and pound attempt from Day.
Day throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Bobs keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Day has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Day prevents Bobs from standing back up.
Day passes the guard and advances to mount!
Day takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Day seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bobs for as long as he can get away with.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Day has control of Bobs's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Bobs regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Bobs is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Day postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Bobs looks a forlorn figure.

Day controlling from mount.
Day looking to finish Bobs with some ground and pound. This is bad for Bobs!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Day wants to finish this one by submission but Bobs is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Day.

Day with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Day really is a fat lump.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Day cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Day throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Day thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Day is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Bobs has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Day raining down hammerfists from mount.
Day throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.

Day with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Day looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ground Day dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Bobs takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Day with a lazy takedown attempt
and Bobs counters with a nice body shot.

Day moves into range and clinches up with Bobs.

Day has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bobs uses from the top position.
Bobs won't allow Day to sweep him here.
Ground Day overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Day is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bobs is aware though and is defending well.
Day throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Day is on top in guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Day passes into half guard.

Day looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Day is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bobs defends it well.
Bobs avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Day.
Day looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Day sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Bobs defending well though.
Day not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Day controlling the action here.
Day lands strikes from half guard.
Day is trying to control. Bobs wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Day uses his free foot to push down on Bobs's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bobs.
Day working the ground and pound effectively.

Day is working for a guillotine from mount but Bobs frees his head quite easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Day working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Day throwing strikes here but Bobs is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Bobs is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Day is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Bobs is surviving well by controlling Day's body position as best he can.
Day is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Bobs can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Day trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Day is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Bobs is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bobs avoids a series of strikes thrown by Day.
Day looking to control and managing it successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ground Day dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Day dives in and grabs Bobs's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bobs pushes down on Day's head and hops out.
Day fails to land with a series of punches.
Day shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bobs sprawls well. Bobs wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Day gets slowly back to his feet.
Bobs checks a leg kick.
Bobs drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Day defends it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bobs fails to land with a series of punches.

Day clinches up against the cage.

Day gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Bobs is looking to escape.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bobs can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Day takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Day throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Day is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bobs can do to turn this around?
Day trying to pass the guard but Bobs defending well.
Bobs is refusing to be controlled, as Day sits in half guard.

Day is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bobs sees it coming and defends easily.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Bobs is not content to let Day control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Day not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Day controlling the action here.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Day feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Day pushes down on Bobs's leg and manages to get into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Day not doing much here.
Day throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Bob Bobs has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bobs won't allow Day to pass to mount.
Bobs has hold of Day's hands but Day slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Day tries to pass to full mount but Bobs defends it.
We've been hearing that Day has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Day slows the pace down in half guard.
Day scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Day content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Day is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bobs doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Day.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ground Day showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Day, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
