Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johnathon Hood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Knuckle Up !
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Up shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hood is trying to defend but Up finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Hood manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Up drives through with a takedown into Hood's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Hood keeping full guard, as Up tries to pass.

Up has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hood can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hood wants to stand but Up is controlling his posture from full guard.
Up has momentary wrist control but Hood slips an elbow through the middle.

Hood loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Hood got a little sloppy there for a moment and Up has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hood has managed to get both his arms back between Up 's legs - danger averted.

Up wants to control from the top but Hood keeps moving.
Up must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Up trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Up really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hood. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hood tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Hood pushes Up up against the cage in a clinch.
Hood looking to stall.

Up breaks the clinch.

Hood gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Up to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Up postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hood is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Up , into his guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Up looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Hood drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hood jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hood stands up from Up 's guard - Hood perhaps looking for a knockout.
Hood tries to clinch there but Up circles away.

Up drives through with a takedown into Hood's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Hood is trying to keep Up in close.
Up in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Up trying to control the position from guard on top but Hood is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hood lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Up is trying to keep Hood in close.
Up is looking to sweep but instead, Hood has passed into half guard.
Up is breathing heavily.
Hood working over Up with some ground and pound. Up looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Hood slips a nice elbow through Up 's hands, connecting with Up 's forehead.
Hood wants to stand up but Up is controlling the position.
Hood looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Up trying to hold on to Hood's head to control him but Hood postures up.
Up is trying to get back to full guard.
Hood is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Up can do to turn this around?
Hood landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Up looking for submissions off his back.

Hood seems to be working for a kimura but Up defends the submission attempt.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hood lands a nice short elbow.
Hood wants to take a breather but Up is having none of it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Up is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hood pulls his head out easily.

Hood is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Up defends it well.
Hood missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Hood has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Up defend it? Hood steps over the head and cranks it - Up is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Hood!
