PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lakoj Dresden (ranked 961 p4p, 38 weight class) and Artur Azaryan (ranked 1765 p4p, 71 weight class). Azaryan has chosen Notorious BIG - Mo Money Mo Problems as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Lakoj Dresden has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Lakoj Dresden seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lakoj Dresden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Artur Azaryan!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dresden closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dresden lands in his opponent's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Dresden tries to free his leg and advance position but Azaryan is retaining full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Dresden throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Azaryan was covering up waiting for the punch and Dresden finishes the takedown easily into guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Lakoj Dresden dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Horrible takedown attempt by Dresden or perhaps it was just good defense by Azaryan, which made it look bad.
Azaryan looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Azaryan has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Dresden is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Azaryan is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Dresden is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Azaryan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Azaryan's back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dresden trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

Dresden is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Azaryan up.
Azaryan trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Azaryan breaks Dresden's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Dresden is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Azaryan can do to turn this around?
Azaryan looking to sit in guard and control but Dresden gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Dresden got a little sloppy there for a moment and Azaryan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dresden has managed to get both his arms back between Azaryan's legs - danger averted.
Lakoj Dresden overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Dresden shoots in for a takedown and gets it, with a heavy slam. That will score well with the judges.

Dresden arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Azaryan's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Lakoj Dresden!
Post fight, Lakoj Dresden took to the microphone: 'Deal with the Angel of Death i take your soul... Ineed a real fight ...'.
Artur Azaryan spoke after the fight, saying 'I'm fed up of this promotion giving me unfair fights. I just fought a guy 50lbs heavier than me. I won't turn down a fight but if you book a damn card, maybe take this in to consideration. I shouldn't have to do your job for you!'.
