Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dean Smith (ranked 2881 p4p, 308 weight class) and Will Dre (ranked 3885 p4p, 390 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are James Glass, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Smith is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Dre has his hands clasped together around Smith's back. He's all about the action.
Smith is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dre defends it well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dre is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Smith's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Smith's back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith manages to reverse the position and now he's in Dre's guard. Nice work there by Smith.
Smith has gone for a leg lock! Dre slips out almost immediately though and dives into Smith's guard.
Dre is working Smith over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Dre connects with a couple of short punches.
Dre wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
Dre cracks Smith with a solid left hand.
Smith is rocked!
It looks like Dean Smith has been cut.

Oh Smith is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Dre gets to his feet and stands over Smith, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Smith felt that one! Dre unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Smith from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Will Dre!
