Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wolfgang Übensplikt (ranked 2420 p4p, 255 weight class) and Harry Hirsch (ranked 1717 p4p, 198 weight class). Übensplikt comes to the cage accompanied by More Than Nothing. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Harry Hirsch!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Übensplikt fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hirsch looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Hirsch keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Übensplikt.
Hirsch tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Übensplikt manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hirsch displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Übensplikt throws out the jab.
Hirsch takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Hirsch fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Übensplikt manages to avoid it.

As Übensplikt backs off Hirsch throws a huge counter combo but Übensplikt manages to avoid it all.
Hirsch tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Übensplikt was well out of range. Poor timing from Hirsch.

Hirsch lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Hirsch.

Übensplikt changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hirsch looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Übensplikt creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Hirsch sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Hirsch tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Übensplikt wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The strikes coming from Übensplikt are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Hirsch is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Übensplikt off and has taken his back!

Hirsch is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Our spies down at at Rabid Dog inform us that Hirsch has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Übensplikt's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Übensplikt is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Hirsch gets his way!
