PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Metal Barbie (ranked 4099 p4p, 400 weight class) and Tom Harper (ranked 3267 p4p, 328 weight class). Tom Harper told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harper closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Barbie tries to buck Harper off but Harper is having none of it.

Harper cracks Barbie with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Barbie might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Barbie takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Harper lands a decent elbow from side control.
Barbie is looking to reverse the position.
Harper has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Harper thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Harper is nestled in close to Barbie, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Harper lands a nice short elbow.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Harper looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Barbie with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Harper is keen to just control but Barbie is a slippery customer.

Harper takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Barbie is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Harper pulls his head out easily.

Harper has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Barbie's face.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Can Barbie hold on?! Harper is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

Harper cracks Barbie with a big right hand from the back mount! Barbie immediately covers up and the referee dives in to save him under a barrage of more strikes! Harper takes this one by TKO!
