Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jacques Marquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Asmodius Crowley!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Crowley fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Marquez to the ground. Crowley is now in Marquez's guard.

Crowley's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Crowley takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Crowley is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Crowley is taking a breather. Marquez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Crowley in particular looking to stall.
Crowley has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Let's hope that Crowley has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Marquez dives in and grabs Crowley's left leg, looking for a takedown. Crowley pushes down on Marquez's head and hops out.

Crowley bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We've been informed that Crowley has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Crowley.

Marquez is fighting to break Crowley's control of his arms but Crowley is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Crowley is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Crowley fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Marquez sprawls well initially but Crowley persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Asmodius Crowley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Marquez closes the distance and clinches up with Crowley, looking for a takedown. Marquez pushes Crowley against the cage but Crowley circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Crowley tightens his grip and picks Marquez up, before dumping him to the ground. Marquez manages to land in guard.
Marquez is striking from the bottom but Crowley uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

Crowley looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Marquez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Crowley has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Marquez won't allow Crowley to pass to mount.
Crowley moves into full mount! Marquez won't be happy about that!

Marquez tries to hold on but Crowley pushes him away.
BOOM! Crowley connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Crowley is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Marquez to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Marquez shrugs it off.
Crowley scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Crowley tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Crowley wants to finish this one by submission but Marquez is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Crowley.
Crowley is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Crowley avoids the attempt from Marquez to control.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Crowley tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
