Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gary Tonon (ranked 1752 p4p, 177 weight class) and Peter Manuel (ranked 650 p4p, 72 weight class). Tonon comes to the cage accompanied by What About Now. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Peter Manuel enters the cage!

The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Saam Ante and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manuel loads up on a big right hand but Tonon slips the punch.
Manuel closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Tonon tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Manuel counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Tonon takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Tonon goes for a double leg but Manuel avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Manuel continues to drive forward.
A big left from Manuel misses.
Tonon fails with an attempt to clinch.
Manuel misses with a looping left.
Tonon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Manuel sprawls well. Manuel wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Tonon gets slowly back to his feet.
Tonon has Manuel up against the cage in a clinch.
Manuel pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Manuel stuffs the takedown attempt from Tonon. Tonon gets slowly back to his feet.

Manuel throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Tonon tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Manuel paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Manuel avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Tonon shoots for a takedown but Manuel saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Tonon walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Tonon tries to score a power double leg takedown but Manuel sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Tonon somewhat.
Manuel jabs Tonon to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Manuel throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Manuel misses with a hook. Tonon ducked under it nicely.
Tonon rushes Manuel and presses him up against the cage.
Tonon jumps guard but Manuel stands there with Tonon around his waist. Tonon gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Manuel breaks from the clinch.
Manuel lunges at Tonon with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Tonon's hand.

Manuel is refusing to be controlled, as Tonon sits in half guard.

Tonon is really struggling to control Manuel but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Tonon is controlling the pace.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Tonon wants to advance to full mount but Manuel doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Tonon not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Tonon is just content to waste time from the top position. Manuel takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Tonon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Tonon wants to clinch but Manuel slips to the side
and Manuel connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Tonon takes the fight into the clinch.
Manuel lands a nice shot to the body.
Manuel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Manuel throws a lazy right hand but Tonon sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Manuel thows a left - swing and a miss!
Peter Manuel seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Manuel leaves Tonon with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Tonon moves out of range of the body kick.
Manuel lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Tonon tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Manuel manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Tonon takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Manuel throws a leg kick which misses Tonon's front leg but catches the back leg as Tonon tries to avoid it.

Tonon tries to bum rush Manuel with a series of wild strikes but Manuel uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Tonon moves in looking to clinch but Manuel pushes him off.
Tonon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Manuel tries to avoid it but Tonon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Manuel to the ground. Manuel escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gary Tonon. That's going to take a lot out of him.

You get the feeling that Manuel really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Manuel is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Tonon pulls his head out easily.

Manuel isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Tonon stacks Manuel on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Tonon!

Tonon tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tonon has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
