The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dalton tries to clinch there but Makarov circles away.
Dalton takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Dalton closes the distance but Makarov moves to the side
and Makarov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Makarov connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Dalton's hands.
Makarov closes the distance and lands a one-two.

It looks like Arnold Dalton has been cut.
Dalton tries to clinch there but Makarov circles away.
Nice uppercut lands for Makarov. That snapped Dalton's head back.
Dalton walks into a straight right hand from Makarov.
Dalton drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dalton tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Makarov manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and Makarov counters with a stiff right hand.
Makarov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dalton moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
It seemed like Dalton was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Makarov closes the distance and pushes Dalton back into the cage.
Makarov is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Makarov is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Makarov digs a right hand into Dalton's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Dalton's gas tank.

Makarov breaks from the clinch.
Makarov thuds his right hand into Dalton's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Makarov scores with a hook to the body. Dalton takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Makarov lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Makarov is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Dalton like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Dalton from another fist facial!

A less than humble Petr Makarov misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
