PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joey Hatton (ranked 1462 p4p, 201 weight class) and Michel Colucci (ranked 1938 p4p, 260 weight class). Hatton comes to the cage accompanied by deadman. Colucci has chosen Le temps des cerises as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joey Hatton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michel Colucci!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Ron Honeybunn and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Colucci shoots in and gets a takedown into Hatton's guard.
Hatton has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Hatton is trying to control the position but Colucci postures up.
Colucci is working Hatton over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Colucci wants to pass the guard but Hatton is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Colucci drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hatton looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hatton looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hatton!

Hatton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee asks Hatton politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Hatton prefers to stall for the moment though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Colucci gets back to half guard.

Hatton is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Hatton looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Colucci sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Hatton wants to pass the guard but Colucci is defending well.

Colucci is refusing to be controlled, as Hatton sits in half guard.

Colucci is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hatton pulls his head out easily.
Hatton seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Colucci does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Hatton works his way into full mount!
Hatton tries to control but Colucci wriggling away.

That was a close round but I would say that Joey Hatton will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Hatton swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hatton lands with a right hand.
Michel Colucci is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hatton throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hatton goes for a double leg but Colucci avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Colucci continues to drive forward.
Colucci fails with the takedown.
Hatton was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Hatton is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Colucci can do to turn this around?

Colucci decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hatton has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Colucci is working away from the top position though.

Colucci is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hatton doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Colucci.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hatton looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Colucci fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hatton sprawls well initially but Colucci persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

and Hatton decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Colucci's guard.

Hatton keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Colucci's head.

Colucci has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Hatton doesn't defend quickly enough and Colucci has managed to lock this one up! Can Hatton escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Colucci on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Michel Colucci!
A relieved looking Michel Colucci thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
