The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Fitzgerald enables Harper to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fitzgerald manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Fitzgerald wriggles free and stands up.
Harper shoots in for a takedown but Fitzgerald shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

We've been told by Fitzgerald 's head coaches at Tycoon Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Harper shoots for a double leg takedown but Fitzgerald sprawls well. He's pushed Harper's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Fitzgerald is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Harper.

and Fitzgerald counters with a nice double leg into side control. Harper won't be happy with that.

The referee asks Fitzgerald politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Fitzgerald prefers to stall for the moment though.
Harper is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Fitzgerald off and has taken his back!

Harper is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Fitzgerald won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Harper off his unconscious opponent!
