OC! Grappling 4 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Alvin Aguilar (ranked 11805 p4p, 598 weight class) and Andrew Henry (ranked 16705 p4p, 618 weight class). Aguilar comes to the cage accompanied by Drector's Cut by Kamikazee. The crowd seem to be enjoying Henry 's choice of entrance music: knuck if you buck . Andrew Henry told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 17 wins and 10 losses; Alvin Aguilar! And in the blue corner, fighting out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 20 wins and 7 losses; Andrew Henry !
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Ackerman and Steven Brown.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Henry shoots in but no luck this time.

Aguilar closes the distance and pushes Henry back into the cage.

Aguilar has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Henry uses from the top position.
Aguilar seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Aguilar controls Henry momentarily but Henry frees himself.
Aguilar keeping moving, preventing Henry from controlling successfully.
Henry trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aguilar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Henry doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Henry manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Aguilar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Henry manages to get himself to full guard.

Aguilar is working for a submission of some sort.

Aguilar is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Henry has managed to free his arm - good work.
Henry wants to improve his position but Aguilar is controlling well.
Henry is trying to maintain the position but Aguilar is very close to passing his half guard.

Aguilar looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Aguilar content to control rather than advance.

Aguilar is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Henry is trying to maintain the position but Aguilar is very close to passing his half guard.
Henry felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Henry is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Aguilar is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Henry has his hands clasped together around Aguilar's back. He's all about the action.

Aguilar looking for a triangle here. Henry is fighting it but it looks tight! Aguilar pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Henry is tapping out - this one is all over!
