Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Edwin Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Victor Vazquez!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, William Gold and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Vazquez throws a counter combo.
Vazquez throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Diaz stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Vazquez throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Vazquez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Good exchange - Vazquez coming out on top.
Vazquez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Vazquez throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Diaz is defended easily by Vazquez.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diaz avoids the head kick by Vazquez.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vazquez throws a series of punches but Diaz moves out of range.
Vazquez throws a series of strikes that have Diaz backpedaling.
Vazquez throws a sloppy head kick and Diaz moves out of range easily.
Diaz is looking for a counter combo.
Vazquez swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Diaz counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Diaz stands and throws Vazquez's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Diaz controls the position.

Diaz has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Vazquez ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Diaz scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Vazquez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Diaz is just content to waste time from the top position. Vazquez takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Vazquez looking for subs off his back but Diaz has passed one foot through into half guard.
Diaz prevents Vazquez from standing back up.
Diaz thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vazquez's head.
Diaz trying to control from half guard but Vazquez is working away.

Vazquez looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Diaz is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Diaz is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Vazquez is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
