The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Aarnio is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Toguchi's half guard.
Aarnio prevents Toguchi from standing back up.
Toguchi is trying to escape back to his feet but Aarnio uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Aarnio wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Toguchi, who protects the arm well.

Aarnio is looking to take a break and control but Toguchi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Aarnio has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Toguchi is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Aarnio yanks on the arm and Toguchi is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Aarnio.

After the fight, Jari Aarnio was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
