Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Cain (ranked 7623 p4p, 510 weight class) and Sven Kristian Nielsen (ranked 2391 p4p, 253 weight class). Nielsen has chosen Wardruna - Fehu as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, David Cain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sven Kristian Nielsen!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nielsen bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Nielsen misses with the combination.
A head kick misses from Cain.
Nielsen on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Cain. Cain obviously looking to wear him down.
David Cain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cain throws a jab when Nielsen was well out of range.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nielsen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Cain wants to stand but Nielsen has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Nielsen is in all sorts of trouble here.

That was a close round but I would say that David Cain will probably get the nod.

Cain fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Nielsen on the side of the head.


It looks like Sven Kristian Nielsen has been cut.
Jab, jab by Cain - just one landing.
Cain tries a head kick but it misses.
Nielsen tries to bum rush Cain with a series of wild strikes but Cain uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Cain connects with a leg kick. Nielsen looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Cain misses with a straight left.
Nielsen is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Cain throws a head kick but Nielsen moves out of range.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Cain, right into the meat.

Nielsen throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Cain stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Nielsen cracks Cain with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Nielsen lands a glancing blow to the side of Cain's head.

Cain rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Nielsen counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Nielsen looks to land a strike but Cain avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nielsen is nestled in close to Cain, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Nielsen is looking for a kimura but Cain is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nielsen to get the leverage.
Nielsen is controlling the pace.

Cain is not content to let Nielsen control the position.

That was a close second round but I would say that David Cain will probably get the nod.

Nielsen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cain swivels though and keeps the full guard.

David Cain is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Nielsen postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Cain cracks Nielsen with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cain scoring well with a low kick there.
Nielsen throws a nice looking combination but Cain bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Cain works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

And that's the end of the fight!
David Cain showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cain, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
