Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tanner Jensen (ranked 6009 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Carpio (ranked 5387 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tanner Jensen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mark Carpio!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carpio moves out of range of the strikes.
Mark Carpio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carpio fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jensen avoids it really well and circles away.
Jensen throws a sloppy head kick and Carpio moves out of range easily.
Carpio doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Jensen counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Jensen tries to break free but Carpio pushes him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jensen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Carpio fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carpio has Jensen pulled in close to control his posture.

Jensen is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Carpio throws a lazy head kick

and Jensen counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Jensen can't break the clinch.

Jensen breaks from the clinch.
Jensen throws a wild body kick that Carpio sees coming a mile off.
Jensen throws a right hand that misses

and Carpio counters by moving into the clinch.

Carpio decides to pull guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jensen works a leg free and moves into half guard.

A close round but Mark Carpio will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Jensen gets tackled into the cage by Carpio. Carpio maintains the clinch.
Jensen has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Carpio jumps guard but Jensen stands there with Carpio around his waist. Carpio gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Carpio swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jensen throws a big counter combination but Carpio scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Jensen's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Jensen duly obliges.

Carpio closes the distance and pushes Jensen back into the cage.

Tanner Jensen is winning the standup battle so far.
Carpio shoots in looking for a takedown. Jensen tries to sprawl out of it but Carpio keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jensen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jensen is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Carpio.

Jensen wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Carpio has him pressed against the cage.

Jensen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carpio swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jensen advances to half guard.
Jensen perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Carpio trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Carpio is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jensen looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Carpio tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Carpio wants to control but Jensen is having none of it.

Jensen goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Carpio is on top in guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jensen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tanner Jensen.
I think Carpio has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
