Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ruben Gracie (ranked 1830 p4p, 243 weight class) and Bea Mason (ranked 2069 p4p, 270 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ruben Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bea Mason!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gracie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gracie is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Mason tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Gracie counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Bea Mason seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mason swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gracie is looking to counter punch.
Mason rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Gracie decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mason's guard.

Mason has momentary wrist control but Gracie slips an elbow through the middle.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mason is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Gracie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mason doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mason manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Mason has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gracie is proving hard to escape from.
We've been hearing good reports from Gracie's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mason wants to clinch up but Gracie keeps it at a distance.
Mason shoots for a double leg takedown but Gracie sprawls well. He's pushed Mason's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A counter left hand to the body from Gracie misses its target.
Mason shoots in for a takedown but Gracie shows good takedown defense.
Gracie connects with a body shot that sends Mason's belly button to the back.
Gracie keeps the fight on the outside.
Gracie defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mason.

Mason sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mason is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
