The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Thiago Souza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Souza looks to land a combination but Ferreira avoids it well.
Souza misses with the combination.

Ferreira forces Souza back against the cage and clinches.

Ferreira's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sloppy strikes from Souza. Those never looked like landing.
Ferreira goes for a double leg but Souza avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Souza continues to drive forward.
Souza connects with a good right hand that stumbles Ferreira. Ferreira circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
A combination from Souza does no damage.
Ferreira dodges the punch combination from Souza.
Left hook, right uppercut from Souza.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Souza misses with the combination.
Ferreira appears to be looking for a big counter.
Ferreira has a takedown stuffed.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Souza! But no joy.
Ferreira changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Souza tries to avoid it but Ferreira manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Souza to the ground. Souza escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ferreira shoots in for a takedown but Souza shows good takedown defense.
Souza misses with a head kick.
Ferreira seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Souza tries to land a front kick but Ferreira steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Souza digs a good hook to Ferreira's body.
Souza throws a series of punches but Ferreira avoids them all with ease.
Ferreira misses with a series of wild punches.
Ferreira is breathing heavily.
Souza misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ferreira misses with a takedown attempt - Souza sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Souza throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A nice leg kick lands there from Souza.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ferreira drives through and clinches with Souza against the cage.

Ferreira breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Souza throws a head kick that Ferreira semi-blocks.
Ferreira walks forward, straight into a front kick from Souza.
Souza scores with a leg kick.
Souza throws a wild body kick that Ferreira sees coming a mile off.
Souza feints a jab promting Ferreira to slip. Souza then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Ferreira slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Souza wobbles Ferreira with a right hand and the left hook that follows puts him on his rear! Souza dives in with a huge flying punch that connects right on the button and puts Ferreira to sleep! - What a violent and spectacular finish!
