PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tud Stoddler (ranked 488 p4p, 62 weight class) and Shannon White (ranked 1048 p4p, 129 weight class). Stoddler comes to the cage accompanied by Arcade Fire - Ready to Start. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tud Stoddler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shannon White!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stoddler is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by White.
White changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Stoddler gets caught flat footed, as White shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
White trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
White trying to control the position from guard on top but Stoddler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

White drops back looking for a leg! Stoddler is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Stoddler manages to kick White off! White jumps back into Stoddler's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

White trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Stoddler is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
White pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stoddler is keeping the position for now.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Stoddler looking for a sweep. Not yet Stoddler, not yet.
Stoddler is adopting a defensive guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Stoddler looks to throw the jab but White is out of range.
White throws a hook but Stoddler avoids it easily.
Stoddler throws a hook but White blocks it.
White steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Stoddler.
White on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Stoddler. Stoddler obviously looking to wear him down.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
No joy there for Stoddler, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A low kick from White misses
and Stoddler connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Stoddler connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
White tries to clinch but Stoddler moves away
and Stoddler counters with a right hand to the body.
A slapping leg kick lands for Stoddler.
White fails with a takedown attempt.
White misses with a body shot.
White jabbing away but nothing is landing.

White is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Stoddler's half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
White trying to pass the guard but Stoddler defending well.
White looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

White is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Stoddler has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

White is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Stoddler is not content to let White control the position.
Stoddler controlling the position for now.
White wants to pass to mount but Stoddler is defending the position.

White is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Stoddler is just riding it out for now. White eventually gives up the hold.
Stoddler is looking to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Stoddler is defending against the submission attempts here by White.
Stoddler wants to improve his position but White is controlling well.
Stoddler is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of White's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take White's back!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Stoddler biding his time, controlling White.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tud Stoddler will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


White rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Stoddler moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
We've been told by Stoddler's head coaches at The Jungle Room that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
White fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
White keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Stoddler.

It looks like Shannon White has been cut.
Stoddler lands a nice hook to White's body. White takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Stoddler wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Stoddler scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. White doesn't seem bothered though.
Stoddler looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
White misses with a combination
and Stoddler counters with a nice uppercut.
Stoddler feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to White's calf.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
White slips a jab and a cross from Stoddler.
Stoddler is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that White can do to turn this around?
Stoddler fails to land with a series of punches.
White changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stoddler tries to avoid it but White manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stoddler to the ground. Stoddler escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nice defenses there by Stoddler.

That's one minute gone in the round.
White shoots in looking for a takedown. Stoddler tries to sprawl out of it but White keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stoddler manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Tud Stoddler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shannon White.

Stoddler scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

White is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
White takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
White is still on wobbly legs! Can Stoddler finish him?
Stoddler fakes the body blow, causing White to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! White goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Tud Stoddler!
Tud Stoddler really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Fanatic ($125) logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
