PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lachlan Myers (ranked 22769 p4p, 470 weight class) and Bruce White Jr (ranked 3939 p4p, 296 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Myers might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Soldier's Song. Lachlan Myers had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 146.2lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bruce White Jr!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Myers misses with a combination

and White Jr decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Myers's guard.
White Jr postures up.
White Jr wants to pass the guard but Myers is keeping the position.
White Jr with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Myers has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
White Jr stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Myers swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Myers is breathing heavily.
White Jr scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
White Jr pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Myers is keeping the position for now.
White Jr connects with a couple of short punches.

White Jr drops back looking for a leg! Myers is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Myers manages to kick White Jr off! White Jr jumps back into Myers's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
White Jr is working Myers over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
White Jr stands up over Myers, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
White Jr is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Myers can't keep his opponent in guard - White Jr advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

White Jr working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

White Jr in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Myers tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from White Jr!
