PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jitsu (ranked 5432 p4p, 486 weight class) and Killua Zoldyk (ranked 5815 p4p, 503 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jon Jitsu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Killua Zoldyk!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Bart Greer and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zoldyk swinging wildly here.
Jitsu shoots in but Zoldyk avoids the takedown attempt easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jitsu enables Zoldyk to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jitsu manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Zoldyk working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Zoldyk pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jitsu is keeping the position for now.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Zoldyk accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Zoldyk is in close to Jitsu's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Jitsu tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jitsu bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Zoldyk's guard.

Zoldyk has an active guard here but Jitsu has managed to pass into half guard.
Jitsu thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Zoldyk is trying to maintain the position but Jitsu is very close to passing his half guard.

Jitsu is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zoldyk wants to control but Jitsu is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Jitsu wants to work for an arm triangle but Zoldyk is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Zoldyk tries to get to full guard but Jitsu has control of the leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jitsu takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jitsu throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Jitsu decides to stand and escape the position.
Jitsu changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Zoldyk tries to avoid it but Jitsu manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Zoldyk to the ground. Zoldyk escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jitsu cracks a nice hook into Zoldyk's ribs.
Zoldyk stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Jitsu. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Zoldyk keeps the fight on the outside.

Zoldyk shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Jitsu is trying to get back to full guard.

Zoldyk looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

A close round but Killua Zoldyk will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Jitsu darts in and clinches Zoldyk up against the cage.

Jitsu tries to pull guard but Zoldyk won't allow it.

Zoldyk drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jitsu looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jitsu looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jitsu!

Jitsu stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Zoldyk misses with a head kick.
Jitsu looks for a takedown but Zoldyk sprawls well.
Zoldyk throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Jitsu's head.

Jitsu is trying hard to land a takedown here. Zoldyk sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Zoldyk is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jitsu is defended easily by Zoldyk.
Zoldyk looks to land a combination but Jitsu avoids it well.
Jitsu is looking to chop away at Zoldyk's legs.
Jitsu will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jitsu shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Zoldyk as he avoids it easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Zoldyk shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jitsu manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Zoldyk postures up in Jitsu's guard and throws a big left but Jitsu blocks it.

Killua Zoldyk showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Zoldyk decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Jitsu jumps guard but Zoldyk turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Jitsu drops down looking for an ankle pick but Zoldyk pulls his leg out and moves away.

Zoldyk bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Zoldyk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jitsu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Zoldyk wants to take a breather but Jitsu is having none of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jitsu shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jon Jitsu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Killua Zoldyk comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Zoldyk has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
