PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sam Samuelson (ranked 6210 p4p, 510 weight class) and Wrestle McWrestle (ranked 5558 p4p, 489 weight class). Wrestle McWrestle will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sam Samuelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Wrestle McWrestle!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Sandra Marshall and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McWrestle shoots in and bounces Samuelson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Samuelson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
McWrestle throwing strikes but missing.
McWrestle wants to control from the top but Samuelson keeps moving.
Samuelson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
McWrestle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Samuelson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Samuelson has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

McWrestle postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Samuelson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of McWrestle, into his guard.

McWrestle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Samuelson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Samuelson passes into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Samuelson wants to pass the guard but McWrestle is defending well.

Samuelson is looking for a kimura here.

Samuelson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Samuelson wants to free his trapped foot but McWrestle is holding on for dear life with his legs.
McWrestle is staying active underneath Samuelson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Samuelson prevents McWrestle from improving his position.
Samuelson wants to free his trapped foot but McWrestle is holding on for dear life with his legs.
McWrestle is looking for a sweep. Samuelson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Samuelson uses his free foot to push down on McWrestle's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for McWrestle.
Samuelson fails to take his opponent's back.

Samuelson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. McWrestle can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Samuelson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force McWrestle to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so McWrestle shrugs it off.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Samuelson looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Samuelson fails to advance to McWrestle's back.
Samuelson is working hard here to advance position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Samuelson wants to control the pace but McWrestle is squirming around nicely.
McWrestle has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

McWrestle is trying to roll into a better position but Samuelson has get a rear naked choke and McWrestle is forced to tap out! This one is allllll over!
