The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Augusto misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Trendall changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Trendall slaps away a takedown attempt from Augusto, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Augusto moves into range and clinches up with Trendall.

Augusto throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

A jab from Trendall finds it's way through Augusto's defenses.
Trendall will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Augusto tries for a takedown but Trendall sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Augusto doesn't manage to clinch there - Trendall circles away.

Trendall shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Augusto tries to roll over but Trendall keeps him under control.
Augusto might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Trendall is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
It looks like Trendall is going to stand back up.
Augusto wants to get back to full guard.
Augusto is trying to control but can't.

Trendall gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Trendall throws a combination. Augusto tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Horrible takedown attempt by Augusto or perhaps it was just good defense by Trendall, which made it look bad.

As Augusto backs off Trendall throws a huge counter combo but Augusto manages to avoid it all.

Trendall closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Augusto quickly recovers to half guard.
Augusto is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Trendall's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Trendall's back!
Trendall is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Augusto tries to get the hooks in deep but Trendall pushed the leg off.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Augusto has the hooks in. Trendall is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Trendall is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Augusto gets his way!
Trendall is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Augusto off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
