Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Manny Quirez (ranked 3382 p4p, 364 weight class) and So Wha (ranked 5672 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Manny Quirez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, So Wha!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Peter Branson and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wha wants to clinch.
Wha fails with the takedown.

Wha gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Quirez to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Quirez advances to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wha wants to get back to his feet.
Wha wants to control but Quirez is keeping busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wha is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Quirez slows the pace down in half guard.
Quirez lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Quirez lands strikes from half guard.
Quirez is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Quirez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Wha sees it coming and defends easily.

Quirez controlling the pace.

Quirez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Quirez performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Quirez is trying to work for a kimura but Wha is defending well.

Quirez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Wha sees it coming and defends easily.

Wha wants to get back to full guard.
It looks like Quirez is going to stand back up.
Quirez is taking a breather. Wha says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Quirez gets a double leg takedown into Wha's guard.
Quirez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Wha doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Quirez is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Wha lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Wha is looking to work some ground and pound but Quirez has wrist control.
Quirez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Quirez is working hard here to advance position.
Quirez is breathing heavily.
Wha takes a decent strike to the side of the head.

Quirez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Wha's guard.

Wha on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Wha tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Quirez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Quirez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Wha, who protects the arm well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Quirez decides to stand back up. Quirez steps back and let's Wha get back to his feet.
Wha shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Quirez pinned against the cage. Quirez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Quirez went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Wha is breathing heavily.

Wha gets tackled into the cage by Quirez. Quirez maintains the clinch.

Quirez turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Quirez manages to end up in side control.
Wha tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Quirez looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Quirez scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Wha?
Wha is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Quirez lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Quirez lands a couple of good shots and Wha has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Quirez controlling the position well here. Wha rolled but Quirez kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Quirez lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Wha hold on?!

Wha is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Wha is trying to get back to his feet but Quirez has full control of the position and if anything, Wha has just worked his way into a worse spot.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Quirez lands a shot to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Quirez is riding his opponent, not letting Wha buck him off.
Quirez is punishing Wha with some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Manny Quirez dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Quirez moves into the clinch successfully.
Wha is looking to break free of the clinch but Quirez has double underhooks.

Quirez has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Wha is trying to keep an underhook but Quirez manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Quirez is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Wha is looking to improve his position.
Quirez keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Quirez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Quirez is looking to pass Wha's guard but actually Wha recovers to full guard.

Wha can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Quirez controls the pace.
Manny Quirez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Quirez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Wha for as long as he can get away with.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Wha shoots in but no luck this time.
Quirez wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Left hook, right uppercut from Wha.
Wha takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Wha tries to clinch there but Quirez circles away.
And Quirez counters with a quick kick to the body but Wha blocks it.

Wha shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Quirez pinned against the cage. Quirez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Manny Quirez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Quirez closes the distance and clinches.

Quirez breaks from the clinch.

Quirez darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Quirez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wha is just riding it out for now. Quirez eventually gives up the hold.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Quirez is nestled in close to Wha, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Quirez is looking for a kimura but Wha is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Quirez to get the leverage.
Quirez content to control rather than advance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Quirez stands up and beckons Wha to join him on the feet.
Quirez stuffs the takedown.
Manny Quirez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of So Wha.

Quirez clinches with his opponent.
Quirez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wha can do to turn this around?
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Quirez has Wha pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Quirez pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Wha tumbling to the mat - Quirez dives into Wha's guard.
Wha wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Quirez manages to pass to side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
So Wha comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Quirez has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
