The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Court bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thompson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Thompson is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Court controls the position from side control.
Thompson can't do much from the bottom here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Court has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Court shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Thompson pinned against the cage. Thompson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Thompson tries to counter by clinching up but Court breaks away and moves out of range.
Thompson tries a head kick but it misses.

Court rushes Thompson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Court is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Court manages to pull guard.
Court trying to strike off his back.
Court keeping moving, preventing Thompson from controlling successfully.
Thompson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Court looking to hit a scissor sweep but Thompson is one step ahead there.
Court is striking but Thompson is not phased and passes to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Court wants to improve his position but Thompson is controlling well.
Court makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Court.

Court has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Thompson doesn't defend quickly enough and Court has managed to lock this one up! Can Thompson escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Court on a fantastic submission victory.
