The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valiquette shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Balzli counters with a nice double leg into side control. Valiquette won't be happy with that.

Valiquette can't do much from the bottom here.

Balzli has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Balzli lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Valiquette takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Balzli is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Valiquette knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Balzli cracks Valiquette with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Balzli immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Valiquette is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Balzli!
